Purity Systems Inc, in association with it’s Asia Pacific Distributors Ammtec Limited, offer subsidized bench ion exchange resin testing as part of the comprehensive Purity Systems Inc. client support services.
Clients are free to either purchase quantities of PSI resins for own evaluation or, alternatively, to avail themselves of the subsidized in-house resin testing facilities located either at the Purity Systems Inc. testing facility in Missoula or at the testing facilities of Ammtec Limited located in Perth, Western Australia. All in-house testing is done on a fixed scope and price basis and is priced at, or below, cost.
Ammtec Limited ( www.ammtec.com.au ) is a worldwide recognized and respected metallurgical consultancy specializing in extractive metallurgy, hydrometallurgical research and treatment of environmental waste streams.
The process of obtaining a bench test quotation is as follows:
- The client provides Purity Systems Inc. a liquor analysis, flow rate and process objectives.
- This information is then forwarded, in confidence, to Ammtec Limited for evaluation.
- Ammtec Limited conducts a theoretical technical assessment based on in-house ion exchange models to predict resin suitability to the particular application.
- At this point if the Purity Systems Inc. ion exchange resins are thought not suitable for the particular client application then the client will be advised and no further work conducted unless requested otherwise by the client.
- If the Purity Systems Inc. ion exchange resins are assessed as being suitable for the client application then a fixed scope of work and price will be provided for a bench testing. Typically the scope of work will include technical verification of the theoretical models used, resin loading capacity, wash and rinse efficiencies, eluted product quality and, if successful, a commercial capital and operating cost estimate. The quoted price is subsidized by either Purity Systems Inc. or Ammtec Limited and is either at, or below, cost.
- If the client accepts the quotation then approximately two liters of representative client process liquor is required for testing, however for high value process liquor such as precious metals pregnant liquor then smaller quantities may be used with the recovered products returned to the client for recycle.
- If the Purity Systems Inc. ion exchange resins are shown to be suitable for the client application then a capital cost estimate can be provided for a commercial ion exchange plant with the battery limit restricted to the ion exchange plant itself, if this is required by the client, at no additional cost.
- Such capital cost estimates are supplied on the understanding that ion exchange resins may behave differently to that observed in the bench testing under pilot and commercial continuous conditions according to the process liquor being treated, specifically pH and elemental concentrations in a mixed metals environment.
- Purity Systems Inc. or Ammtec Limited will include, as part of the capital cost estimate, the cheapest capital equipment outcome on the ion exchange equipment for the particular application and may include technologies other then fixed beds, for example carrousels and other commercially proven technologies.
- Where it is determined that up-front treatment of the process liquor, for example by membranes, may reduce the total capital cost then we will advise the client of such an outcome and will make recommendations and provide comparative capital and operating costs on these recommendations. In such cases the battery limit will be extended to include such recommendations.
- In obtaining equipment quotations from third parties Purity Systems Inc. or Ammtec Limited may release specific information on the client process to such parties and if so done we will ensure through confidentiality deeds that all information supplied to third parties is held in confidence.
- At the completion of the bench testing a comprehensive report will be issued to the client.
