Industrial Waste Applications
There are a wide variety of industrial waste streams where metal values are lost. Metal-laden waste liquors may originate from steel production, electroplating, metal refining, or waste treatment processes. PSI's resins can recover these metal values and increase the profitbility of the operation.
PSI RESINS IN INDUSTRIAL WASTE
- Operating range for selective metal recovery = pH 0 - 3.5
- Recover copper, nickel, cobalt and PGMs from 0.01 - 10g/l feed liquors (resin, liquor matrix and pH dependent)
- Reject ferric and ferrous iron, Al, Zn, Ca, Mg, Na, K (resin and pH dependent)
- Liquor flows 10 - 1000m3/hr using fixed bed and carousel systems

PSI APPLICATIONS
Refineries
- Nickel recovered from waste stream in copper refinery. 10m3/hr fixed bed process at pH2. PSI WP-2 used to recover nickel. Eluate sent to electrowinning circuit to produce nickel cathode.
- Nickel recovered from mixed sulphate/chloride matrix from an electrowinning discharge stream. 400m3/hr fixed bed process at pH2.
- PGMs recovered from gold plant discharge. 2m3/hr fixed bed plant at pH0.
- Nickel recovered from mixed industrial waste liquor with sulphate matrix. 30m3/hr fixed bed system at pH2. PSI WP-2 produces 99% nickel purity while rejecting Fe, Al and Zn. Eluate sent to electrowinning process to produce cathode.
- Nickel recovered in multi-stage process from stainless steel waste stream. Water, acid and nickel values recovered where previously lost.
