PSI Overview

HISTORY OF PSI

The initial non-styrene ion exchange discovery was made by Dr. Pang of The University of Montana who subsequently offered post graduate students projects centered around this technology. This approach is still followed today under the stewardship of Professor Edward Rosenberg.

This research and development was, in part, funded by United States Government Grants (for example SBIR) that were applied for under the University structure. Additional funding was supplied to the University by Dr. George Torp and Dr. Philip Barney on a philanthropy basis.

Over time the University of Montana realized the potential of the ion exchange technology and approached Dr. Torp and Dr. Barney to form a company to oversee the ion exchange resin commercialization and marketing.

The Company Purity Systems Inc. (PSI) was formed with 100% ownership by Torp and Barney . The University granted a non-revocable, exclusive world-wide license to PSI to manufacture and sell the resins with a royalty going back to the University that was sales based.

In August of 2007 the Australian Metallurgical Consultancy AMMTEC LIMITED purchased a majority stake-holding in PSI and today manages the business operations.
