Purity Systems Inc. ion exchange products with operational capabilities of pH 0 upwards (product dependent) and process liquor temperatures of up to 110°C (product dependent) are ideally suited to primary metals recovery or impurity metals removal from harsh acidic leach liquors and bleed streams that are common to the mining industry.
The resin range is designed around the rejection of sodium, potassium and calcium +2 ions while being selective for various target metals, product dependent, such as nickel, copper, cobalt, ferric iron and ferrous iron. Due to the exceptional pH range, temperature tolerance and product physical stability the products are targeted at removal of primary metals from process liquors such as pressure acid leach, pressure oxidative leach, acidic leach liquors, heap leach and bacterial leach liquors.
In most instances downstream metals recovery by EW to LME purity is achievable or, alternatively, may be recovered as a high purity sulphate, nitrate or chloride chemicals.
With reductions in capital and operating process costs made possible by the unique properties of the Purity Systems Inc. resin range, ion exchange, either as a stand-alone unit operation or in conjunction with up-stream flow concentration systems can compete cost effectively with solvent extraction without any of the environmental and fire hazard associated with SX even for the lower value metals such as copper. The resin technology is also well suited for metals recovery from SX rafinate and bleeds streams.
Due to process economics the resin range is ideally suited to primary metals recovery from low value deposits such as those commonly associated with bacterial and heap leaching.
The removal of transition metal impurities, such as chromium, manganese, zinc and other heavy metals, is possible from value metal process streams and the applicability of the resin range to these tasks is liquor matrix dependent.
